How it works

Your roster becomes a plan you can actually edit.

NightShifter combines your work hours, commute, sleep preference and real-life constraints into a readable sequence of timing suggestions. The result is guidance—not a command or a medical prescription.

1. Add the schedule that is real

Enter shifts manually or save the patterns you use most. NightShifter supports day, evening, night, early, rotating and irregular work. Overnight shifts stay attached to the date they begin, and commute time can shape the space available before and after work.

2. Choose what the planner should consider

Set a preferred sleep range, caffeine sensitivity and how you usually handle days off. Add fixed responsibilities—such as school pickup or an appointment—so suggested windows can avoid them where possible. Optional answers may be skipped.

3. See one daily sequence

The Today view orders actions by time: core sleep, optional top-up naps, wake timing, brighter or dimmer light, caffeine cutoff, meals, exercise, wind-down and post-shift check-in. Each action includes a short reason and a flexible window where appropriate.

4. Adjust instead of starting over

Complete, skip or move an action. Editing a shift regenerates affected plans and reminders. Manual changes remain visible so a later calendar refresh does not silently overwrite your judgment.

5. Learn only when there is enough context

Short check-ins can record energy, sleep quality and plan fit. Weekly insights stay cautious: small samples are labelled as collecting or low confidence, and correlations are not presented as diagnoses or causes.

Safety boundary: NightShifter cannot determine fitness for duty or driving safety. If you feel too sleepy to drive or work safely, follow workplace guidance and seek appropriate help rather than relying on an app.

What works offline?

Core onboarding, shift entry, planning, check-ins and saved preferences are local-first. Notifications, calendar reads, health reads, purchases, account sync and restore have platform or network dependencies. Calendar and health access remain optional.
